Time in the pet-care field: Since 2001

Non-human companions:   Currently caring for three Siberian Huskies, Sierra (age 13), Loki (age 5) and Kona (age 13); a Greyhound, Bear (age 10), 5 feline friends, Bean, Little Bear, Tippi, Roland, and Jelly; all of whom eat fresh, homemade, natural diets.

Special Experience:  
- Experience caring for diabetic and senior pets, pets with cancer, and pets who are reactive and/or fearful.
- Active in breed specific rescue efforts with multiple organizations, serving as a foster home for spaniels, huskies, and greyhounds.
- Experience working with large groups of dogs in an off-leash setting.
- Behavior intern with Jo Jacques, CDBC, ACCBC.

Certifications/Education:
- Certified Professional Pet Sitter through Pet Sitters International.

- Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed

- Diploma in Advanced Canine Nutritional Sciences through the Companion Animal Sciences Institute.

- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Wheaton College.


Favorite thing about working with pets:  Getting through to our most fearful dogs.  There's nothing more rewarding than taking the time to gain their trust.

Marissa Punwani

Non-human companions:   Two feline friends, Checkers and Ria

Special Experience:  
- One year as a Veterinary Assistant at Valley Veterinary Hospital in Hadley, MA. Experience included: assisting veterinarians with exams, administering medications, providing overnight care, discharging patients, and managing administrative records.
- Three years at Kamelot Kennel of Mendon, bathing and grooming dogs and cats, supervising animal daycare play groups, and caring for boarding pets.

Certifications/Education:
- BA in Sociology, UMass Amherst
- One year Animal Science study, Umass Amherst
- Safe Animal Handling class at Dakin Pioneer Valley Animal Shelter.
Favorite thing about working with pets:
The feeling of satisfaction that comes from knowing that I can improve the quality of life of an animal by providing a calming influence.
